Fertigation is a process that combines fertilization and irrigation. Fertilizer is added into an irrigation system. Fertigation can reduces soil erosion and water consumption. It also reduces the amount of fertilizer utilized, and controls the time and rate of fertilizer released. Fertigation is used to add additional nutrients or to correct nutrient deficiencies detected in plant tissue analysis.

In Malaysia, fertigation of vegetables such as tomatoes, chillies and cucumbers, as well as high-valued fruits such as rock melons are widely practiced.
